Mammy Fox's Poppy Bowl

Mammy Fox's Poppy Bowl

Grandma Pearl's Mother named Ida Fox was my Great Grandma. My mother Betty gave me this bowl to "keep" (more like sacred)...it is from early 1900's. There is an iridescent glaze to it..unbelievable how vivid the colors are, after all these years, on the poppy design.

Real BlackBird Pie Steamers, vintage 1940's, perch in front of the bowl.

Opalescent pedestal vase--milkglass--1930's or 40's found at an estate sale.

Toad Conjectures

Toad Conjectures

This toad perches atop a Seashell picturebook. The Antiguan seashell competes with Toad's marvelous skin design....bumps, lumps, no slime. Toad is a lidded creature; so a glass marble is under the box lid--when it rolls around a throaty noise emits. A starfish would be green-eyed for that patterned skin...good for summer reef-wear.

Halloween Decorations

Happy Halloween! Witches and Goblins await the scary midnight hour of October 30th..Bring on ghosts, ghouls, ugly pumpkins, cute costumed characters, squeaky gates and creepy doors...run fast past cemeteries and gobble up the goodies!

  • Wooden ornament created by Sherry Candy Lane, artist... from an original moon/round mirror inset wall piece...re-done into a Halloween ornament with old, vintage sheet music..folded fanlike..cupcake toppers..a Hallmark 'Happy Halloween' sparkled with silver glitter..re-strung fake candy corn..eyes originally purposed for wooden sculptures..highlighted with a light coat of orange & black craft paints. The witch and the moon acquired a new eye too.

  • Folk art 'Boo' Box-Carved Pumpkin..created from styrofoam pumpkin found at 'Tuesday Morning'...carved out (with a big mess of styrofoam bits)..inside padded w. iridescent orange sheer fabric & pinned with black-headed pins to keep it in place & add interest to the outside border..dangling pumpkin + jingle earrings..miniature pumpkins, cupcake toppers, fake corns (saved from tag sale finds)...backdrop of the fascinating Hallmark "corduroy" moving picture card re-cycled for this art whimsy (the pumpkin on the card) gets taller like it's growing when the viewer moves past the image)..with base of orange-colored box found at Marshall's decor dept...a fun teeny handled-pumpkin clings to the lge. stalk.
