"Catching My Sweetheart" is a mixed media art sculpture by Sherry Candy Lane.It measures 24" high x 9" wide & 9" deep. Types of materials include wood, fabric, thread, wire, metal, cardstock, and plastic.
Sherry has interpreted some of the fragments of her new love's catch, in a very whimsical way. In the mid-60's, she found 'him', and through this art expression she expresses the Sweetheart game that brought them together. Some of the "game pieces" include a carrot, butterflies, rainbows, lion, fruit, chair, bell, crochet 'fishing' rod, a shoe-print tie, an Indiana Jones character to represent her Love, miniature champayne buckets, a 'CANDY' (her maiden name) mini-license plate, silver shoe, a magnetic word 'summer', glitter, fairy wings, green plastic line....and a 1980's card titled 'GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE' and more.
A cutout circle door brags an offset 'CD' ...which picks up the light & emits iridescent light streams. The base is a 1960's fruit pedestal turned upside down. It supports the fanciful paisley print cardboard box (Enchanted trap). A dangling carrot from crochet 'fishing' rod hangs out for bait. Her love will be charmed by the wooden Lion, since he is a Leo. Butterflies, rainbows, fairy wings lure. Colorful spools of thread symbolize the beginning of a beautiful tapestry. The chair predicts a home together. A tiny game block means children in the future. A pin shaped into a paint tin titled 'ROSE' weights down 'the sweetheart' fabric tag (from a pair of GAP) denims. A wooden PuddleJUmper game piece stretches vertically above the spools, giving structure to the sculpture.
