Green Sea Pod

"Green Sea Pod" Mermaid whimsical mixed media sculpture by Sherry Candy Lane. The sculpture base began its life as a brown,metal pillar candleholder. Now it boasts 3 tiers of green mermaid sea life. The piece measures 10" widest point x 10 1/2" high.

A sea-washed blue-green open-mouthed fish flaunts his catch...small shells, glass marbles, and a smashing, faceted iridescent glass pin...a striated viridine green shell competes in beauty with the fish...frosted lt. green sea glass, mother-of-pearl button, a carved soft blue flower, beads & baubles surround the fish.
She's perky & proud with red hair & vivid green jeweled gown (actually a designer mermaid ornament found at tag sale)--this mermaid balances on a glass ocean bubble in a twig-woven sphere that matches her shape.
An upside-down bow ties the whimsy together & is pinned in place with one heart-shaped multi-rhinestone clasp in rose pink, emerald green, canary yellow, & wave blue glitz, befitting the rotund sea maid.

Moon Fanfaronade

"Moon Fanfaronade" is a whimsical mixed media art sculpture by Sherry Candy Lane.
The moon's fanfare base is a vintage grain chafe--one of my travel finds It measures a medium large 18" Diameter.

Animating the scene is the jointed/wooden/art mannequin...he dons a crescent mask. He weaves stars & stars in his Fanfare Role....because he applauds the moon in all its grandeur.

Mermaid Schooner

"Mermaid Schooner" is a whimsical mixed media sculpture created by Sherry Candy Lane. A 21" long x 9" wide quality glass fish inspired mermaid "vessel." Transparent, roomy, wide-mouth opening & the "siren in a fish belly" made the base fun to work with.
Shapely shells, genuine glass fish floats,sea glass, beads, glass bubbles & baubles radiate
within the heavy, transparent boat. A glue-based sandy texture grout affixes the pieces.



The seductive siren may have adorned someone else's fish tank for many years....a purchase on Ebay, where I find many fascinating mermaid lures.

Petite shells patterned on a fish--found at a tag sale--the fish swims under the glass buoy, beads, marbles, & tiny glass bottle. A tiny porcelain seahorse drifts in the opposite direction.
Rough shell textures vs smooth glass surfaces add to the interest of the sculpture. The blackberry/midnight blue shades on the bottom of the schooner are from the application of nailpolish--to camouflage the grout base. A glass & pearl w. gold caps wrap around the exterior tail.

Indigo Mermaid Wave

Indigo Mermaid Wave, a whimsical mermaid shadowbox,created by Sherry Candy Lane, is a delightful, magical water scene. It measures approx. 12" x 12". Composed of paper illustration in the background that has been broadened with matching acrylic paints to complete the width of the side-to-side setting.

In the foreground, a tropical drink umbrella has been recycled to shade a shapely mermaid on the shore. Majenta wire ribbon ties in with turquoise wire ribbon, fabric beach ball style button, earring stars, assorted shells,vintage jewels, sea glass and metal flowers border the bottom
front.

A dangle of sea gray beads give movement over the mermaid scene. (A glare from the camera makes this photo less desirable -- sorry).

What fun it would be to laze down the water on the little gondola-type boat, filled with sitarists & an enchanted Siren. Gazeboes and Pagodas in the far side entice.





Majenta Blossoms on River trees overhang with vivid beauty. The colors tie in with the beachbrella.








Layer upon Layer of Teal, Indigo Blues, Majenta, & Night Shades echo the whisper of the Mermaids' Wave as Time brings their secret worlds together.

Bird Buzz

Bird Buzz is a mixed media work by Sherry Candy Lane. A green, wooden, glass-paned box captures the winged creatures, suspended among moss, miniature twig chair, and within the structure is a jar. In the jar hovers a honey bee--he quivers at the slightest movement.

A tiny little 3-family birdhouse slants in sight. Glass eggs wait for their hatching.

Blue Yellow & White Birds alight on twigs, tweeting in tune with the big-eyed bee. This sculpture measures 4 1/2" wide x 11 1/4" high.

Follow Far Song

Once this mermaid arrived from
an ebay purchase, and the wooden base/pedestal was found at Goodwill, Follow Far Song emerged as a mixed media piece of art by Sherry Candy Lane.
The lovely mermaid is made of resin. She flaunts her little corner of the world amongst wooden fish, glass ship bottle, beads, fish earrings & artificial sea grass.
Prism glass grapes, smooth sea glass & shapely shells encase her little world.






Magnetic words,' Follow Far Song', weave this mermaid's mysterious tale.

Her lovely face indicates that she's perfectly content with the song the ocean sings to her.

This mixed media art piece measures approx. 11" x 12".

A harmonious splash of silver jewels, pearls, shells, hearts, patterned shell at the base add to the romantic siren's story.

Boom-Chicka

Boom-Chicka, mixed media sculpture by Sherry Candy Lane has evolved from my love of Easter, as a child, and as a grown-up.
The round mesh lidded container was found at Pier I. In the background there is a painted lid of the woman's face. She wears a yellow and blue hat & has perfect curls for Chicka-watching. She seems to be glimpsing in on the yellow round framed post card shot of a newly hatched chick.
Within the sphere of activity is a separate round box with a plush nest of colorful, vintage pipe cleaner chicks, speckled eggs, yellow and pink basket grass protected by a sprig of a fairy who keeps the mama yellow bird safe from the real world.
A happy canary tops the round box, proudly singing to a pink butterfly.
Polka dots, speckles, circles, feathers, eggs, chicks, girl chick,fairy, bird, & stick-chick gathered in a boom-chicka array to celebrate the colors and joy of Easter.

Guarding the scene is a perky Chick on a stick with pink party hat & pink frills.

Mind Drift

A ring of coral, shells, pins, beads, etc...encircle the child's crown.

Playful mixed media sea sculpture...Underwater objects, some treasures, have been attracted and attached to compose this work by Sherry Candy Lane.

A simple resin driftwood base (from Pier I) holds the rhythmic ocean mileau adorning the mischievious bust. Oceanliner pins, laminated jewelry, glass bottle, seahorse saltshaker, brass crab, earring fish skeleton, various sized shells, and more have been stopped in a mind drift.

A miniature silver spoon with carved face & the name 'Alexandria' is propped next to the bottle; a swan pin bragging a huge pearl, sea glass, balsam starfish, and much more suggest the delightful thoughts the child has.

Shell & Angel Mirror

Shell & Angel Vintage Mirror...Crafted by Sherry Candy Lane...Measures 20" wide x 26" high..Most of the shells I personally found in Antiqua...Interspersed
among the shells are ocean-inspiring jewelry pins, stones,and pendants. Six cherub/wooden / angels flank the vintage mirrow.

Shabby and Chic and Cottage Charm would help describe the decorative use for this mirror.

Created Summer of '07 by Sherry Candy Lane. I will consider its sale providing a customer offers a reasonable bid.

The mirror section is vintage--has some patina, marks, etc...which I have left as is...however, it can easily be replaced and is not hard to remove from the back section.

Sand Rambler

Secret Gardens Grin

Secret Gardens Grin..full view Whimsical Mixed Media Sculpture...Wooden Secret Garden Base for this 15" wide x 35" high piece. Inspired by 1980's greeting card (installed at top) of cheshire cat in tree & rainbow. I have boxed it into a wine-bottle gift box (heavy cardboard)..Grinning above the "treehouse" is a cheshire cat (Disney character, of course!)from one of our family Disney trips in the early 90's...the sun and moon dangle from branches topping this whimsy garden.
The core of the garden is held together by a wonderful wire tree made by my brother-in-law, Rick...an electrical contractor, who made this in his spare time (& other trees) as a hobby. It is flexible, yet strong wire and the treee holds polka dot accessories, birds, & the tree house.

In the garden is hidden a rainbow which can only been seen in the mirror's reflection. A wooden carved pedestal holds a proud frog on which two baby chipmunks rest. A gnome rides a silly frog. A crocodile borders the box with fierce big teeth amidst red & white napkin rings & an array of colorful buttons & waxed walnuts.

This Mermaid Box measures 7" x 9"..wooden..opens with front hinged door..

Glass framed front displays mermaids revealed in an effervescent ocean wave.

The sand-like textured paint complements the ocean milleau.

Inside/Left: Composed of glass beads in turquoise, cobalt, seagreen sweeping over an irridescent background..blue enamel seabird in the sky..miniature shells across floor..Highlighted by captivating fabric/laminated mermaid perched as though she is watching the opposite scene..

Inside/Right: Irridescent (mylar paper)backdrop sets the perfect enchanted mermaid scene..Two Mermaids (laminated cut-out paper) own the pearly, crystal, shell-tipped throne--behind them a vintage ocean blue pin beams like a sea orb..above are rhythmic shells and coral-colored beads..on the left border is a rainbow array of petite shells..Cuddled in the lower panel, a mermaid "notice"..."This was the fate of the men and women whom the waters took away...to lie forever unburied in the deep, prey to fish and home to coral, gazed upon by the indifferent eyes of drifting water nymphs."

Bits of coral and shell line the floor. A fish and wand flank the right of the maids.
