Moon Tea Lullaby
A blue lidded hat box has been converted into this whimsical "Moon Tea Lullaby" mixed media shadowbox. As this versatile artist does with many of her works, a 1980's illustrated card begins the moon song. She just goes along with the music & supplies more objects from many years of travels to tag sales, estate sales, a former flower shop business, flea markets, & sentimental pieces. In the background, a crescent moon man is in bed, covered with quaint quilt & sipping on a steaming cup of tea. Metallic stars border left. A teapot sets on a shapely wicker tray. Now the whimsical fun begins. Mimicking the illustration, a paper mache gold-tinted moon has been given dimension with paper bag string arms & clay-shaped gloves. His eyes come to life with bead inserts. He holds matching stars from the sky & with his right arm he is soothing a sweet little celestial child asleep on a gold pillow. In the backdrop, 3 pajama-capped crescent heads on a stick are falling asleep too.
In the foreground, stars & trinkets line up. A happy Crescent Moon with a very detailed face dangles top center.
For a more in-depth view, the gold tulle curtain can be turned aside.
This moon sculpture measures 10" diameter x approx. 13" high x 5" deep. The curtain of tulle is tied at the top with a long strand of midnight blue sequins.
